Gilded Age Weddings: Something Old, Something New (coming 11/3/26)

Weddings in the Gilded Age were certainly grand affairs with sumptuous decorations, elegant surroundings, and gowns to rival even the most elaborate ball gowns of the period.  In this episode, returning listener-favorite art and fashion historian Dr. Elizabeth L. Block, author of “Gilded Age Fashion,”  returns to the show for an in-depth look at all aspects of weddings in the Gilded Age, from the invitations, the attendants, the reception,to the gown (of course) as well as accessories and shoes. Liz takes us into several weddings of the Astors and Vanderbilts to see all the details, from what the bride wore to, most importantly (in the Gilded Age anyway), just who was there.
